Training for Fitness at Age 90
If like me, you are a "baby boomer" then you may have the concern I have:
How to make sure I am physically fit when I turn 90.
A couple years ago, I had a "close encounter of the 'unfitness' kind".
While turing London on holiday, my back started hurting... real bad.
Since I retired from Intel, I have realized that the "runing between meetings" and the "weekend outdoor relaxation" actually was quite a bit of excercise and kept me in reasonable shape. After 3 years of *not* doing this excercise, and expecially in the winter when the grey rain was less than inviting to get me away from my computer, I had gone downhill quite a bit.
The London event was but a symptom, and the angony of the long hike in the Atlanta airport on the way back was a killer:
Did I want to be using a 'walker' before I could even withdraw from my IRA?
What a bummer.
This, then, are the key learnings I derived over the past 5 years as I struggled to regain some bit of fitness. In this ongoing struggle, I am at the point where I am considering;
Bike Riding the 200 mile :"Seattle to Portland" in 1 day.
